Thank you...appreciate it. I backed up the VM using CCC just in case. Made the changes and worked.
Will wait for the next release and hopefully remember to check!

hi
thank you for you advise
but when we are downgrade hardware version from 14 to 11
the machine not power on we face a problem
1.exactprovisioned size 217G
That size would result in 109 sparse files, but the file listing that you've provided earlier shows 120 sparse file. So it must be something around 238-239GB. Anyway, it's important to know the exact size to be able to recreate the descriptor file as well as replacements for the zero bytes file. That's why I was asking for the metadata files.

It seems your are using vcenter server appliances if yes SQL will not come in picture.
If you have external PSC
Do one thing
Power of Vcneter server then PSC
Power on PSC once it up check all service status
then power on VC after 10 minutes check service status
what is your scope of work , do you want deploy vm by using back up vmdk ?
It seems that the "at" command is not available in esxi commandline terminal.
What should I do then?
Without the different software vendors' installation files, your likely at a loss. Most applications do not require executable files, but also require configuration settings, registering dll's, write registry entries, ... which is done during the installation. That's not specific to virtual machines, but the same on physical systems.
What you may try - unless already done - is to do an inplace upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Just make sure that you backup, or clone the Windows 7 VM prior to starting the upgrade, so that the original system will not be touched.

Thanks scott28tt
the link was helpful in understanding the migration.
However, the issue turned out to be something else.
Since I had vCenter in a different subnet and esxi hosts in a different subnet, it failed. I did a fresh setup in which I had esxi hosts in the same subnet as the vCenter (192.168.10.0/24) and migrated the redundant vmnic1 1st, then the vmk0 (management) then the vmnic0, and all migrated without any hassle.
So now my question is why would migration fail when esxi hosts were in a different subnet, I'm totally lost on this as for me whether esxi hosts are in the same subnet or different the migration would work.
Any thoughts, thanks.
There's 49.96TB out of 50TB free on the datastore. DeployVM1 is the only VM on it.
Also, there's nothing related to hotaddmemory task in the vmware.log:

I don't think that request passed vcenter in the first place.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I installed vCenter Server 5.1 to play and learn myself this fantastic technology. I need little help.
I can start vSphere Web Client, but can do nothing with it. It looks like icon for creating new datacenter is missing:
and the blue stripe on the bottom is moving endlessly:
I must to note, that Client Intergration Plugin refused to install, telling me, that installer was damaged or tampered. I found on some FTP server, and downloaded, file VMware-ClientIntegrationPlugin-5.1.0.exe from slightly older build. Web Client is recognizing it as older build, but it loads correctly (I think):
Please advise me.
My homelab config:
machine 1: vCenter Server 5.1.0-3900744 (from May 2016) with Client Integration Plugin 5.1 from March 2013 on Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2 with Firefox 52.5.2 and Flash 32
machine 2: ESX 3.5
machine 3: WS 2003 as Active Directory domain controller with reverse lookup.
Static IP on all machines, strong passwords on WS machines.
Moreover, using vSphere Client (not web-based) I can't connect to vCenter Server:
I can connect only directly to my ESX host. Another Windows machine is running inside:
Despite many days of struggling, I can't make vSphere client to work.
No.. only 3 systems in my infrastructure. Vcenter VCSA guest (virtual guest), and 3 ESXi hosts.
Nothing else is separate.
I'm using VMware Fusion 11.5 on macOS Catalina to run a Windows 10 machine, and two days ago every folder in the VM went read-only and stayed that way. I tried changing permissions, changing file and local drive ownership, resetting windows, reinstalling windows from scratch, reinstalling vmware from scratch, restoring from a backup, and sanitizing everything to do with VMware or windows from my computer and reinstalling everything AGAIN. I have been throwing spaghetti at the wall for 48 hours, and *nothing*. Everything is read-only, and every time I set it to read-write it doesn't work. Shared folders, C drive, program files, everything. I'm at my wit's end. Does anybody know what causes this problem and how to fix it?
Thanks Andre,
That was my first thought.
I duplicated the Windows 7 VM, so at least I had the original to fall back on.
However, I couldn't find out how to upgrade this to windows 10.
It's probably very simple, but I can't see how you do it.
The windows 10 is on an iso file.
Richard.
I didn't do this myself yet, but from what I understand from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 you can use the downloaded ISO for either a fresh installation by booting from it, or for an in-place upgrade by unzipping the ISO file (using e.g. 7zip), and running setup.exe.
André
Yes. Possible. On this VMware kB have commands and PowerCLI script to get those info.however, as I said earlier CDP must be enable on switch ..VMware Knowledge Base
Just a quick though.
In case that the vCenter configuration isn't really complex, it may be worth considering to simply deploy a new vCSA, or restore it from a previous backup you have one.
André
Looks Like you are really mad person. I noticed many time you pocking me here and saying am begging point here... where I always trying to help peoples in this platform.. due respect please stop nonsense things..

Update: I've tried downgrading to VMware 10, deleting every .lck file I can find, switching the Virtual Machine folder location, and screaming at the heavens. Somehow, everything is still read-only.
I attached files dsfo info
