Re: VDPCONNECT_NETWORK_FAILURE Agent Unreachable

Is this issue reproducible internally as well Or only happens for external connections?

Are you using vGPU based pools? Does it happen with all desktop pools Or specifically with windows 10 1909 pool only?

Are you able to reproduce the issue with PCoIP as well Or does it happen only with Blast?

How many vCPU you have assigned to VMs? Please note 2 or more CPU is recommended for blast protocol.

flags:0x0 indicates that the agent should wait for the client to attempt a reconnect rather than terminate the session.

To further troubleshoot first isolate the issue as per above suggestions and provide blast-worker and blast-service both log files from the problematic VM.

No, this is not how vSAN is designed to work.

Curious if you ever ended up going with either of these motherboards? Particularly the B450i gaming plus ac?

ESXi 7.0 VM won't boot ISOs to install Windows or Linux

So I have a weird issue.  I just installed ESXi 7.0 on a new server.  MIgrated my VMs from my 6.7 server over and they are running fine and happy.

I went to make a new VM today for a windows 10.   I downloaded the latest ISO from MS.  Uploaded it to the Datastore.

Created the VM was 7.0 hardware (the default) but it will not boot the ISO.  Says no media on the DVD.     Tried with 18.04 Ubuntu and 20.04 Ubuntu.   Same situation.

However if I create the VM as 6.7 hardware... it boots those ISOs fine.     I can't seem to figure out why and googling around isn't getting me much.

I'm debating on now re-installing my server to 6.7 and bin 7.0, but wanted to ask before I did if there is something I'm missing for this.

Thanks for your time.

I removed Fusion and rebooted, downloaded a fresh copy of 11.0. Installed rebooted and I still have the same problem, broken pipe.

I don't know if that command that you gave me to try revealed anything or not.

Anything else that I can try?

Having the same issues.  Removing network introspection made OneDrive seem to work.   I am getting around the wild card issue by using a writeable volume, assigning it a drive letter (hidden) and then excluding d:\writeable\OneDrive.  I redirected OneDrive to that folder.  More to follow as we get more information.

Hi Vegard,

I am also planning to move servers from 2012 to 2016. Can you please share the steps/documentation to migrate the servers. We are running 1907 and will be performing a cut-over migration. We have 2 web and 2 DS servers. We will be adding another DS after the migration. I have upgraded the existing servers before but never migrated them. So looking for all the help I can get.

Thanks,

Manshu

Hi KabirAli82,

The credential of VxRail adapter is work, but there is no data showing on the vSAN and VxRail databoard.

I think it could be the problem of unsupport version of VxRail firmware.

Thank you so much!

Thank you.

There seems to be multiple lines of code where "PCI" is mentioned. Do I delete ALL of these lines?! Could you help me with more details if you look at my attached .vmx file from earlier?

Hi,

For unknown reason, VMware-vapi-endpoint this service failed to start on our vcsa 6.5, i tried to dig out by vecs-cli, but with no luck, here are the error messages:

#/usr/lib/vmware-vmafd/bin/vecs-cli entry list --store TRUSTED_ROOT_CRLS

Number of entries in store :    1

vecs-cli failed. Error 11: Possible errors:

LDAP error: Administrative limit exceeded

Win Error: Operation failed with error ERROR_BAD_FORMAT (11)

#/usr/lib/vmware-vmafd/bin/vecs-cli entry list --store TRUSTED_ROOT_CRLS --text | less

vecs-cli failed. Error 4312: Possible errors:

LDAP error: Unknown (extension) error

Win Error: Operation failed with error ERROR_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (4312)

Is it related to TRUSTED_ROOT_CRLS issue ?

Thanks

Re: Windows 2016 with Storage Pools over VMDKs and Veeam Backup/Rep

I have the same questions and also "couldn't find anything like what we are testing on vmware, or any supported or unsupported specific statements for the 2016 platform storage pools over vmdks."

Not looking great with the lack of replies to this one in 3 years...

I've found one article saying Windows server storage pools (Not S2D, just pools) is not supported and it feels like a double virtualisation of storage which doesn't fill me with hope. If anyone has any experience with this I'd be super appreciative of input.

Thanks

Re: vRA 8.1 - Duplicate vm names.

I assume you are running a vRO workflow for your custom naming that gets triggered by an event subscription.

Note that the blocking on the event subscription ensure your custom naming workflow completed before going to the next step in the provisioning workflow, without it the name would likely not be allocated.

It sounds like you query vCenter to determine names already in use and then increment a value to create a unique name. It does take a while to get the VM created, during which time the name wouldn't be returned from a vCenter query if your workflow runs again within seconds. You could either use the custom naming within vRA or statefull storage to track what you allocated (config file on file share, sql etc.)

That's quite unexpected.  Can you reconfigure your failing VM with 7.0 virtual hardware down to 6.7 compatibility and see if it starts working?  If you can obtain a vmware.log from a failed attempt to boot, and attach it to your reply, I'll take a peek.

2 Disk vSAN

I am experimenting and trying to create the bare minimum for a disk group in 1 node. I followed the wizard and added a cache and capacity drive. But when i tried to create a folder or make a hard drive for a vm it gave an error message and prevented it. Not sure what the issue is. Maybe I have to edit a certain storage policy to allow the vSAN disk group to run off just off one node?

-------------------Update-------------------

The problem of creating the folder from the vSphere client in the vSAN datastore is the result of the 'New Folder' not calling the right utility(ESXI 6.7). Shell into the node of the vSAN datastore. There should be a symlink to use to help identify and take you into the datastore then run:

/usr/lib/vmware/osfs/bin/osfs-mkdir YourNewFolderHere

Heres the KB. VMware Knowledge Base

Error message: Cannot complete file creation operation.

There are currently 1 usable disks for the operation. This operation requires 1 more usable disks.

Remaining 0 disks not usuable because:

0 - Insufficient space for data/cache reservation.

0 - Disk-version, storage-type or encryption-type mismatch.

Eeek.  I should have asked you to use the "Attach" function (in the lower-right corner when composing a reply) instead of cut-n-paste.  My bad.

Anyhow.  The "fuser" tool should be able to tell you who/what is using the sound device.

Try "sudo fuser -f /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p" or similar.  It should report which processes are currently keeping the ALSA device busy.
